John has built a distinguished career as a legal leader, culminating in the role of Vice President, Legal & Compliance at Labster, a leading education technology company backed by Andreessen Horowitz. In this position, he played a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth through strategic legal counsel, risk management, and operational efficiency, including oversight of the company’s Security and IT functions, and serving as interim CFO in early 2024. He successfully led the legal function through significant milestones, including multiple rounds of fundraising, an international acquisition, and the implementation of a comprehensive data privacy and security program.

John’s expertise spans a wide range of legal disciplines, including data privacy and security, corporate governance, intellectual property, employment law, and commercial contracts. He has a deep understanding of the regulatory environment and has successfully navigated a myriad of legal issues for clients across various industries.
