They met while working together at a Boston-area software company and went on to lead legal, privacy, compliance, and operational functions at fast-growing tech companies. John is a business-minded attorney who has built and led legal functions inside fast-moving technology companies. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Legal & Compliance at Labster, a global edtech company backed by Andreessen Horowitz, where he guided the company through multiple rounds of fundraising, an international acquisition, and the expansion of its privacy, security, and compliance programs. He also oversaw IT and Security operations and stepped in as interim CFO during a key transition in 2024.
John’s strength lies in combining legal strategy with operational awareness. He works closely with executive teams to simplify complexity, manage risk, and support sustainable growth. His in-house background gives him a clear view of how legal can support — rather than slow down — decision-making.
Before Labster, John led the legal function at NetBrain, a network automation software company, where he managed commercial, privacy, and product legal work. He’s known for his steady approach, business fluency, and ability to build trust across functions.

Dylan brings a sharp legal mind, a business-first perspective, and deep experience across contracts, compliance, and privacy. Before co-founding Embedded Counsel, he served as in-house counsel to software and healthcare companies, where he supported everything from commercial deals to internal investigations to data privacy program design.
Dylan began his career in software sales — negotiating contracts and working closely with product and security teams — which gives him a grounded understanding of how businesses operate and where legal input adds the most value. He combines this with legal expertise across commercial transactions, litigation, privacy, and technology.
In addition to representing clients in litigation, Dylan designs efficient legal workflows, advises on AI policy and emerging technologies, and helps clients build legal systems that scale. He’s trained in legal process improvement and brings a focus on clarity and efficiency to everything he does.

Luis represents individuals and closely held small-to-midsize businesses across Massachusetts and Rhode Island, handling Chapter 93A claims, real estate litigation, business partnership disputes, estate litigation, will contests, and high-net-worth divorces — from pre-suit negotiations through trial and appeal. He spent the bulk of his career at two Am Law 200 firms managing complex commercial litigation with large-firm trial and deposition rigor, and clerked for three judges before entering private practice. That combination taught him how cases actually get decided when the lawyers aren’t in the room.
Luis left BigLaw to build a litigation practice on a simple premise: individuals and businesses deserve the same quality of legal work that Fortune 500 clients get, without the hourly rates and staffing pyramids that put it out of reach.
